On Wednesday, during a segment on UFC Tonight, it was revealed the former Strikeforce title contender will meet former UFC welterweight champion and fellow collegiate wrestler Johny Hendricks on the upcoming UFC 182 in October. His opponent, Woodley (14-3), a two-time NCAA Division I All-American out the University of Missouri, was last seen earning a split decision over Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 183 in January. This victory extended his win streak two straight with his previous win being a violent first-round knockout over Dong Hyun Kim at UFC Fight Night 48 in August. ‘The Chosen One’ will enter this bout with Hendricks (17-3), a four-time NCAA Division I All-American and two-time national champion out of the Oklahoma State University, most recently earned a decision over at UFC 185. Prior to this win, ‘Big Rigg’ saw current champion Robbie Lawler walk away with his belt following a hard-fought split decision following their rematch at UFC 181. This marked his first appearance inside the Octagon since tearing his bicep during his decision win over Lawler during their initial title fight at UFC 171 in March 2014. UFC 192 is currently scheduled to take place on Oct. 3 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. A lightweight heavyweight title fight between reigning champion Daniel Cormier and Alexander Gustafsson will serve as the main event.
