On Monday morning, it was revealed UFC officials had booked the flyweight contest between a pair of former title contenders in Joseph Benavidez and Ali Bagautinov for UFC 192 in Houston. The Houston Chronicle was the first to report the news.

Benavidez (22-4) will be looking to make it four straight wins since suffering a first round knockout defeat to current 125-pound champion Demetrious Johnson back in December 2013. In his most recent effort, Benavidez defeated fellow title contender John Moraga at UFC 187 in May. This marked his second straight decision win after coming out on top over  Roufusport product Dustin Ortiz at UFC Fight Night 57 in November.

To date his last stoppage win was a first round submission win over Tim Elliot at UFC 172 last April, which earned him a Performance of the Night bonus.

Bagautinov (13-3), a former Sambo champion, has not been seen inside the Octagon since suffering a decision loss to Johnson in the main event title fight at UFC 174 in June 2014. Following this loss, it was revealed ‘The Puncher King’ had tested postive for erythropoietin (EPO), result in a one year suspension. He previously earned his shot at the belt after rattling off 10 straight wins, including his first three under the UFC banner.

Also announced for the card is a women’s strawweight contest between a pair of veterans form The Ultiamte Fighter 20 in Angela Hill and Rose Namajunas.

Hill (2-1), a Muy Thai specialist, will be looking to get back into the win column after dropping a lackluster decision to fellow TUF 20 alum Tecia Torres at UFC 188. Prior to this setback, ‘Overkill’ earned a decision in her UFC debut over Emily Kagan at the TUF 20 Finale in December. During her time in the TUF house, Hill suffered a first-round submission loss to former Invicta FC straight champion Carla Esparza in the first round of the TUF 20 tournament.

Namajunas (2-2) will be looking to snap her two fight losing streak. In her last bout, fans saw the woman known as ‘Thug’ suffer a third round submission loss to Esparza in TUF 20 tournament finale. She earned her spot in the finale after scoring three straight submission wins in the TUF 20 tournament.

UFC 192 is currently scheduled to take place on Oct. 3 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.  A lightweight heavyweight title fight between reigning champion Daniel Cormier and Alexander Gustafsson will serve as the main event.
