The biggest star in mixed martial arts history has officially announced her new opponent.

On Friday morning, during an appearance on Good Morning America, reigning UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey revealed she will be putting her belt on the line against Holly Holm in the main event of UFC 195 on January 2.

“January 2 I’ll be fighting Holly Holm, who’s the most decorated striker we have in all of mixed martial arts,” Rousey reealed during her appearance on the show. “Not the women’s division, not the bantamweight division. [Holm]’s a 19-time boxing champion Holly Holm was The Ring magazine pound-for-pound Fighter of the Year, and definitely my biggest challenge to date.”

Rousey (12-0), a former Olympic medalist in Judo, is coming off a violent 34-second knockout of Bethe Correia at UFC 190 earlier in This month. This marked her third straight victory to end in under a minute after a blistering 14-second submission win over Cat Zingano from UFC 184 and an impressive 16 second knockout over Alexis Davis at UFC 175. Prior to these wins, she also earned 66-second TKO over Sara McMann.

Rousey will enter this bout with stoppage victories in all 13 of her professional bouts, including nine by way of first round submission. To date only one of her fights has gone past the first round.

This news came as a surprise to many as it was widely believed Miesha Tate, who is riding a four fight win streak, had done enough to earn a third shot at Rousey’s title.

Holm (9-0), a former boxing world champion who amassed a record of 33-2-3 while holding both the IBA and WBF world titles, has yet to taste defeat since making the switch to mixed martial arts in 2011. Since then she has laid waste to almost every single opponent thrown her way, securing violent knockouts in several different promotions. In her most recent contest, the Jackson-Winkeljohn product earned a decision over Marion Reneau at UFC Fight Night 71.

UFC 195 is currently set to take place at the MGM Grand Garden Area in Las Vegas on January 2. No other bouts have been officially announced, the women’s strawweight title fight rematch between champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Claudia Gadelha has been tied to the card.
