On Thursday afternoon, it was revealed the women’s strawweight contest between fan favorite Paige VanZant and seasoned striker Joanne Calderwood will serve as the main event for UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas on Dec. 10. ESPN was the first to report the news.

Calderwoord (10-1), a Scotland native, was last seen scoring an impressive unanimous decion over Cortney Casey in front of her hometown crowd in Glasgow at UFC Fight Night 72. This win got ‘Jojo’ back into the win column after suffering her first professional loss at the Maryna Moroz in April. She will enter this bout with four career stoppage wins, all of which have come by way of knockout.

VanZant (6-1), a Team Alpha Male Product, recently signed a new multi-fight deal with the UFC. In her most recent outing, ’12 Gauge’ walked away with s third submission win over Alex Chambers at UFC 191 earlier this month. Prior to this win, the 21-year-old earned a decision over veteran Felice Herrig in April. She will enter this bout with three career stoppage wins, all of which have come under the UFC banner.

This event is currently scheduled to take place Dec. 10 at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan and will stream live on UFC Fight Pass. It will also mark the first of three events the UFC plans told in the span of three days as the The Ultimate Fighter 22 Finale takes place Dec. 11 while UFC 194 will takes place n Dec. 12.
