On Thursday morning, UFC officials announced the welterweight contest between Stephen Thompson and Neil Magny had officially been added to UFC 195 in January.

Magny (16-4), veteran of season 16 of The Ultimate Fighter, will be looking to pick up ninth win in his 10 bouts. In most recent effort, fans saw the Colorado native earned a split decision over Erick Silva at UFC Fight Night 74 after taking the fight on just two weeks notice.

Prior to this win, Magny saw his seven fight win streak snapped after suffering a second round submission to former middleweight contender Demian Maia at UFC 190. He will enter this bout with eight careers stoppage wins, including five by way of knockout, and a UFC record of 9-3.

Thompson (11-1), a multi-time kickboxing champion, will look to cement himself as a legitimate contender at 170-pounds. Most recently, fans saw “Wonderboy” scored an incredible spinning back kick knockout against Jake Ellenberger in the main event of The Ultimate Fighter 21 Finale in July. This not only extended his win streak to six straight but marked his sixth career knockout victory. He will enter this bout with a UFC record of 6-1.

UFC 195 takes place Jan. 2 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. A welterweight title fight between Robbie Lawler and Carlos Condit is expected to serve as the main event.
