It seems like every week fans hear news of an injury forcing a UFC main event out their scheduled fight.

On Tuesday night, reports came out revealing UFC strawweight Joanne Calderwood had suffered an injury in training camp, forcing her out of her scheduled main event against Paige VanZant at UFC Fight Night 80. VanZant’s teammate Justin Buchholz revealed the change in opponent’s during Tuesday’s edition Stud Show Radio.

As a result, former title contender Rose Namajunas has been tabbed as Calderwood’s replacement

Namajunas (3-2) will be looking to pick up her second straight win inside the Octagon after earning an impressive first round submission over TUF 20 teammate Angela Hill at UFC 192.

This victory not only marked her first win under the UFC banner but snapped her two fight losing streak. The woman known as ‘Thug’ previously suffered a third round submission loss in her title fight against former champion Carl Esparza and a decision to decision loss to fellow TUF 20 alum Tecia Torres.

VanZant (6-1), a Team Alpha Male Product, has compiled a 3-0 record since debuting with the UFC last year. In her most recent outing, ’12 Gauge’ walked away with a third submission victory over Alex Chambers at UFC 191. Prior to this win, the 21-year-old earned a decision over veteran Felice Herrig and a TKO over Kailin Curran.

UFC Fight Night 80 is currently scheduled to take place Dec. 10 at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan and will stream live on UFC Fight Pass. It will also mark the first of three events the UFC plans told in the span of three days as the The Ultimate Fighter 22 Finale takes place Dec. 11 while UFC 194 will takes place n Dec. 12.

It should be noted UFC has yet to confirm the news. The MMA Corner will continue to monitor the situation as it progresses.
