The next number one contender for the 205-pound title has officially been booked.

On Wednesday night, during an episode of UFC Tonight, it was revealed light heavyweights Anthony Johnson and Ryan Bader will meet in the main event of UFC on FOX 18 in Newark, New Jersey in January.

Johnson (19-5) was last seen walking away with a violent second round knockout over Jimi Manuwa at UFC 191 in September. This got “Rumble” back into the win column after suffering a third round submission loss at the hands reigning champion Daniel Cormier in their main event title fight at UFC 187.

The Blackzillian product previously earned his shot at the belt with an violent first round TKO over former title contender Alexander Gustafsson in the main event of UFC on FOX 14 in Sweden . He will enter this bout with 14 careers stoppage wins all of which have ended by way of knockout, including a  UFC record four coming inside the opening minute.

Bader (20-4), winner of season eight of The Ultimate Figher, will be looking pick up his six straight win inside the octagon and seventh in his last eight bouts. In his most recent outing, Power MMA product earned a dominant unanimous decision over fellow former champion Rashad Evans at UFC 192 in October collegiate wrestling.

Prior to this victory, ‘Darth” earned a decision over fellow collegiate wrestling standout and current Bellator number one contender Phil Davis at UFC on FOX 14 in January. He will enter this bout with 10 careeer stoppage wins, including six by way of knockout.

UFC on FOX 17 is currently scheduled to take place January 30 at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. A welterweight contest between Jake Ellenberger vs. Tarec Saffiedine has also been announced for the card.
