On Monday morning, it was revealed Invicta FC was targeting a 140-pound catchweight between Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino and Cindy Dandois for the main card of Invicta FC 15 in January.

The promotions President Shannon Knapp announced the pairing during an appearance on The MMA Hour on MMAFighting.com.

Cyborg (14-1, 1 NC), the promotion’s reigning featherweight champion and former Strikeforce & Elite XC champion, would be making the drop below 145-pounds for the first time in her career, in hopes of closing the gap between herself and UFC’s bantamweight limit of 135-pounds.

The Brazilian will enter this bout having finished all four Invicta opponents by way of knockout. In her most recent outing, the Cyborg walked away with 45-second victory of Faith Van Duin at Invicta FC 13. This bested her previous 46-second TKO vin over Charmaine Tweet earlier in the year.

It should be noted Knapp revealed both the opponent and weight class are subject to change. Cyborg would later echo this statement on Twitter.

Dandois (6-2), a Belgium native, most recently earned a second round submission win over Megan Anderson at Invicta FC 14 in September. Prior to this victory, she suffered her own second round submission loss to reigning Invicta FC bantamweight champion Tonya Evinger last December.

Invicta FC 15 is currently set to take place at The Hangar at the Orange County Fair & Events Center in Costa Mesa, California on Jan. 16. Headlining the event will be a strawweight title fight between champion Livia Renata Souza and DeAnna Bennett.
