On Tuesday morning, it was revealed UFC middleweight Sam Alvey had suffered a broken jaw in training camp, forcing him out of his UFC Fight Night 82 bout against Daniel Sarafian. The initial report appeared on r/mma, which Alvey later confirmed in the comments section.

“Thanks for all the kind words guys<” wrote Alvey. “Sorry to disappoint you all, I’m super bummed as well. :(”

Alvey (26-7), the former MFC Middleweight Champion, was looking to get back into the win column after suffering a TKO loss to Derek Brunson in  August. This loss not only snapped “Smile’n’s” three fight win streak, all of which ended by first round TKO, but also marked the first time he’d he’d been finished since 2010.

UFC Fight Night 82 is currently scheduled to take place on Feb. 21 at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A headlining act has yet to be announced.
