A flyweight contest between former title contender Joseph Benavidez and Zach Makovsky has officially been added to UFC 196 in February.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal was the first to break the news.

Benavidez (23-4) will be looking to make it five straight wins since suffering a first round knockout defeat to current 125-pound champion Demetrious Johnson back in December 2013. In his most recent effort, the Team Alpha Male product walked away with a decision win over fellow former title contender Ali Bagautinov. Prior to this win,Benavidez, earned back-to-back decision wins over John Moraga and Dustin Ortiz

Makovsky (18-5), a former Bellator MMA bantamweight contender, was last seen suffering a decision loss to The Ultimate Fighter 14 winner and former title contender John Dodson at UFC 187. Prior to this setback, the man known as “Fun Size” earned a decision over Elliot at UFC Fight Night 60 last February. He will enter this bout with seven career stoppage wins, including six by way of submission.

UFC Fight Night 196 is currently scheduled to take place on Feb. 6 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. A heavyweight title fight rematch between reigning champion Fabricio Werdum and Cain Velasquez will headline the card.
