According to reports, World Series of Fighting is looking to book the lightweight title fight bewteen reigning champion Justin Gaethje and Brian Foster for WSOF 29 in March. MMAFighting was the first to report the news.

This should come as exciting news to fight fans as both men have repeatedly expressed their desire to face one another.

Foster (23-7) was last seen winning the WSOF 25: 8-man lightweight tournament in November . During the event, fans witnessed Foster earned back-to-back knockouts over Lusi Palomino and Joáo Zeferino en route to earning the tournament crown.

He had suffered a first round submission loss to Zeferino in the opening round, before being named the replacement for the injured Mike Ricci against Palomino. Prior this winning the tournament, the former UFC veterean scored a violent 30-second knockout over LaRue Burely as WSOF 23.

Gaethje (15-0), the promotion’s first and only 155-pound champion, has yet to taste defeat in his professional career. In his most recent outing,  “The Highlight” earned a thrilling second round TKO over rival Luis Palomino in September.

This marked the second time in nine months,Gaethje finished Palomino, with the first being a thriling Fight of the Year performance in March. The Grudge Training Center product also holds win over former UFC standout Melvin Guillard as well as fan favorite Nick Newell.

WSOF 29 is currently scheduled to take place March 9 in Loevland, Colorado. A venue has yet to be named.
