Coming off of the biggest win of his mixed martial arts career, UFC middleweight Yoel Romero has been notified by the US Anti Doping Agency (USDA) of a potential Anti Doping violation from an out of competition drug test.

As of right now there is no details on what exactly caused the violation by Yoel Romero, or what substance was found, just that him and his team have been notified of the fail test.

Romero is coming off of a decision win against Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza and was in talks to be the next man in line for a shot at the title against current middleweight champion Luke Rockhold.

The UFC released the following statement regarding Romero’s potential violation

The UFC organization was notified today that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) informed Yoel Romero of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition sample collection.

USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case involving Romero. Additional information will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward.
