As is usually the case, AXS TV’s Friday Night Fights delivered another bone-crunching evening of performances with Legacy FC 51: Mendes vs. Ramos.

The event took place from the Grand Casino in Hinckley, Minnesota.

In the headline fight, Manny Vazquez took advantage of the spotlight, scoring a stunning upset of Ricardo Lucas Ramos. Vazquez locked up a rear-naked choke and got the tap at just under two minutes of the first round, becoming the new Legacy FC bantamweight champion.

As part of filming for “Lookin’ for a Fighter,” UFC president Dana White and former welterweight champion Matt Serra were in attendance. The series has already helped produce contracts for Sage Northcutt, Randy Brown and Mickey Gall, who fights Saturday night at UFC Fight Night 82.

Brock Larson’s retirement party went from disappointment to sheer joy quickly, as the veteran escaped a deep guillotine choke that had turned his face purple. Moments later, it was a fitting cap to a memorable career, as he picked up a first round TKO for his 42nd career win.

The 38-year-old Larson announced prior to the fight that he would be retiring after, ending a 14-year career in MMA that included stops with the UFC, WEC and ONE Championship. He fought the likes of Carlos Condit, Jon Fitch, Melvin Manhoef, Tarec Saffiedine, Brian Foster, Mike Pierce and Mike Pyle during his run.

Jacob Volkmann dealt Antonio Trocoli his first pro loss, scoring a decision. The Minnesota-native and former UFC competitor has now won two in a row and four of his last six overall.

In spectacular fashion, Cody East landed a head-kick on Kevin Asplund and quickly finished him from there, earning the TKO in just 40 seconds.

East has now won nine consecutive fights, including five finishes in a row. The current Legacy FC heavyweight champion was not defending his title, but asked to be put on the card after hearing of White’s planned visit.

Former UFC fighter Tateki Matsuda earned an impressive first round stoppage when he forced Joe Pearson to tap to strikes. It marked the second straight win for Matsuda since his 2015 release from the UFC.
