After the recent announcement of teammates Alistair Overeem and Andrei Arlovski being set as the main event of the Rotterdam, Netherlands card, another solid fight has just been announced as well, with welterweights Gunnar Nelson and Albert Tumenov set to face off.

Both fighters are rising stars in the welterweight division, with Tumenov being one of the best strikers at 170 pounds and Nelson having some of the best jiu-jitsu in the division. This is a classic striker vs grappler matchup with many different ways the fight can play out.

Nelson came into the promotion with a record of 13-0-1 and had an amazing start, going 4-0 in his first 4 bouts. But since then, Nelson has dropped a decision to Rick Story, submitted Brandon Thatch in the first round, and lost a decision in his most recent outing to Demian Maia. Nelson’s ground game is his bread and butter; he is no slouch in the stand-up either, but I highly doubt he wants to stand and bang with such a dangerous striker as Albert Tumenov.

Tumenov has a record of 17-2, with one of those losses being his short-notice UFC debut againstlldemar Alcantara in a fight he lost via split decision. Since then “Einstein” has looked amazing, going 5-0, with 3 of those wins being devastating knockouts. Tumenov has made it clear that he thinks he is the best in the division and is going to be a champion one day, and with a win over Gunnar Nelson, he will set himself up very nicely in discussions for a possible challenge for a title, providing fight fans with great odds to make some money from
