In a press release UFC officials revealed the Brazilian has admitted to using a substance without knowledge it was on banned substance list. “The UFC organization was made aware today by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, that Lyoto Machida declared the usage of a banned substance during an out-of-competition sample collection last week. Machida stated that he was unaware that the substance was prohibited both in and out of competition and, in accordance with the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, his disclosure of usage will be taken into consideration by USADA during any potential results management and adjudication process.” As a result of Machida’s positive test, his scheduled middleweight rematch against Dan Henderson at UFC on FOX 19 this weekend has officially been called off. Machida (22-7) was looking to get back into the win column after suffering a devastating knockout to Yoel Romero last June. This marked the second straight bout fans saw “The Dragon” finished. Machida was previously submitted by reigning champion Luke Rockhold at UFC on FOX 15 last April. Henderson is expected t be re-booked for a new bout in the near future.
