Chris Weidman (Dave Mandel/Sherdog)Chris Weidman Injured, Out of Title Fight Against Luke Rockhold at UFC 199 José Youngs May 17, 2016 News, Spotlight, UFC On Tuesday afternoon, news broke that former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman has been forced to withdraw from his UFC 199 title fight against Luke Rockhold with an injury. Twitter user Talk MMA was the first to tweet the news before several news outlets confirmed the injury. Rockhold (13-2), also the former Strikeforce champion, defeated Weidman in their initial bout at UFC 194 with a violent fourth round TKO. Prior to to losing his belt, Weidman (13-1) defended is title against Vitor Belfort after demolishing the Brazilian with vicious ground and pout and UFC 187. This marked his first appearance in side the cage since he was seen defending his belt with a hard-fought decision win over Lyoto Machida at UFC 175 last July. There is currently no word on who will replace Weidman against the champion but the outspoken Michael Bisping has already thrown his name into the mix. Training camps separate the boys from the men.
