UFC President Dana White broke the news during a live segment on SportsCenter. This announcement comes just one day after it was revealed Rockhold’s original opponent, former champion Chris Weidman, had been forced to withdraw from the title fight with an injury. Rockhold (15-2), also the former Strikeforce champion, finished Bisping with a second round submission in their initial bout at UFC Fight Night 55 in November 2014. The American Kickboxing Academy product would go on to finish former champion Lyoto Machida at UFC on FOX 16 before dethroning Weidman with a violent fourth round TKO in December. Since losing to Rockhold, Bisping (28-7), winner of season 3 of The Ultimate Fighter, has also rattled off three straight victories. In his most recent bout, “The Count” earned the biggest win of his career in the form of a unanimous decision over former middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva in February. This marked his third straight decision win with his two previous coming against C.B. Dolloway and Thales Leities. UFC 199 goes down June 4 at The Forum in Los Angeles.
