Striking 8/10

Powerful and precise dos Anjos has developed into a fearsome striker. Once primarily known as a grinding grappler dos Anjos has dedicated a lot of time and effort into his striking game and the results are clear. With stoppage victories over Benson Henderson and Donald Cerrone dos Anjos established himself as a force on the feet.

Wrestling/Grappling 9/10

Dos Anjos is a tenacious grappler and he understands the importance of position before submission. Dos Anjos might not be the best pure grappler but between his ferocity and his dedication to doing the little things right he can be nightmare to deal with.

Submissions 8/10

With a third degree black belt in BJJ dos Anjos has the technical tools to be dangerous but simply isn’t a submission wizard. Dos Anjos isn’t a risk taker on the ground and that generally means he looks to maintain dominant position rather than taking a chance to secure a submission.

Athleticism/Conditioning 8/10

While not an out of this world athlete dos Anjos is a tireless worker and his conditioning is ridiculous. He is a great example of a blue collar fighter; on fight night he comes ready work for all 25 minutes.

Fight IQ 9/10

Work ethic and evolution have defined dos Anjos’ rise to the top of the lightweight division. It isn’t just work in the gym it’s the work he puts in with his coaches understanding his opponent’s strengths, weaknesses and tendencies. Just look at what he did to Anthony Pettis to claim the title; for five full rounds dos Anjos outworked and out smarted Pettis.

Overall 42/50
