The rumours have been rife for what seems like an eternity, but Conor McGregor’s latest social media activity suggests he could finally be about to make an eagerly anticipated debut in WWE.

The Irishman was responding to a tweet from fellow compatriot and current SmackDown Women’s Champion, Becky Lynch.

‘The man’, as Lynch is also known, is one of the leading stars in WWE currently and fans will be desperate to see McGregor appear next to her at WrestleMania 35.

For some years now, WWE have been desperate to get McGregor inside the ring for Mania but the UFC star has always resisted the temptation.

What’s been said? After Lynch’s tweet which jokingly (or not) suggested she would ‘break his arm’, McGregor replied with a response that will leave WWE fans drooling at the prospect of him appearing at the MetLife Stadium. “The Man channels no one. (McGregor) & me are bonded as Irish brother & sister. But if I ever got within 2 miles of him I’d break that bond, and his arm, in three short seconds. I’d be too tempting; he’d completely understand too. Proper12 after,” Tweeted Lynch. McGregor’s response was prompt and to the point: “Call me when you need Proper back up,” The 30-year-old star Tweeted. Now, however you look at that, well, there’s only one way you can really look at that – McGregor appears to want to get the wheels in motion and has set tongues wagging about making an appearance, but could it just be a media ploy?

McGregor has history

Stars of UFC and MMA are certainly accustomed to this and after McGregor fought Floyd Mayweather JR last year in a boxing match, it surely is just a matter of time before he makes his WWE bow.

Granted, a sizeable pay check was perhaps the number one motive for trying to topple ‘The money’ but McGregor is someone who’ll try and turn his hand to anything, and wrestling is something that’ll come naturally to the Dublin-born superstar.

The exchange of tweets between the pair continued with Lynch trying to convince The Notorious One to head over stateside: “Cheers, Conor. I’m carrying two divisions at the moment, but you know how that is. I hear New York is nice in the spring, though.”

Lynch’s response will give WWE and MMA fans plenty to ponder, and she added more fuel to the fire by following up with more comments on the WWE’s official Twitter page, who themselves had suggested she has a friend in McGregor.

Can a deal be struck?

“I heard Conor gets to NY quick if a call is made.”

The comments will further excite fans who are desperate to see the duo together, as Lynch is almost enticing McGregor to cross the pond as soon as possible.

Whatever happens between now and WrestleMania in spring, you can be sure that more exchanges will suffice between Lynch and McGregor and fans will want to see a repeat of last year’s blockbuster guest appearance.

MMA star Ronda Rousey had her first ever wrestling match live on WrestleMania which in some respects, can and will likely set a trend for future acts to follow.

For now though, if McGregor is still serious about appearing at ‘Mania 35, his representatives and those of WWE’s will need to sit down and iron out the finer details of what would satisfy both parties.

Any potential appearance would likely draw similar Pay-Per-View fees to the hotly anticipated WBC title fight, where you can view Wilder v Fury betting odds.
