The 7th July is the date of UFC 239, with it taking place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The main event will also see the return of Jon Jones, as he looks to further cement himself as the leading fighter in the sport. He will face off against Brazilian Thiago Santos and is again the short priced favourite for victory and can be supported at a general 1/7, which is proving popular with punters using the betway promo code. Here we cover the credentials of each fighter.

Jon Jones

The 31 year old is widely regarded as the greatest fighter in the history of the sport. He fights out of Jackson-Wink MMA in the Light heavyweight division and still has just one loss on his record. This coming back in 2009 at the Ultimate Fighter Finale, when he was disqualified due to the use of illegal elbows against Matt Hamill.

Jon Jones has a professional record of 24 wins, one loss and one no contest. The no contest coming back at UFC 214 when the result was overturned by CSAC. Jones had won the contest against Cormier and does still remain the only fighter to do so. He had of course previously beaten Cormier via a decision back at UFC 182.

Jones has now returned with two recent victories following his absence. The first coming against Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 232, which he won via a third round knockout. This was also the second victory he has over Gustafsson. His most recent victory was at UFC 235, as he faced off against Anthony Smith. This was another dominant victory for Jones, as he won the fight via a decision.

Thiago Santos

The 35 year old Brazilian has long been pushing for a fight with Jones, as he looks to become the first to defeat him inside the cage. He fights out of Tata fight team and has been a major force throughout his career, including in his move up from middleweight.

Santos has a professional fighting record of 21 wins and six loses, and is entering the fight having won his previous four. He has a number of impressive wins on his record including against a recent opponent of Jones in Anthony Smith. This was at UFC Fight night 125 when he won the fight via a second round TKO.

His recent victory over Jan Blachowicz was an impressive one, as he won via TKO in the third. This led to calls for him to get the title fight and he could yet pose a challenge to Jones.
