The UFC brings fights fans some of the best fights possible and UFC 128 should not disappoint.  From top to bottom UFC 128 is stacked with meaningful fights and features a light heavyweight title fight between the champion Maricio “Shogun” Rua and challenger Jon “Bones” Jones.  On paper this fight has the potential to be one of the best fights in title history.  Rua is coming off of yet another knee surgery and will attempt to make his first title defense since winning the title at UFC 113.  Jones is arguably the fastest rising star in mixed martial arts and hopes that he can continue riding his moment all the way to the top.

The co-main event of the evening pits two former champions against each other as Urijah Faber takes on Eddie Wineland.  For years Faber dominated the featherweight division and now he hopes he can do the same thing in the bantamweight division.  If Faber is going to make a run in the batamweight division he will need to use his superior wrestling skills to get this fight to the ground and ground out a victory.  A loss here for Faber would be detrimental to his title hopes.  Wineland, a former WEC bantamweight champion, hopes that a win over Faber will put him right back into title contention.  For Wineland to get back into title contention he will have to use his striking to keep Faber on the outside and out strike him to get the victory.  The rest of the main card is consists of Brendan Schaub vs Mirco Cro Cop, Nate Marquardt vs Dan Miller and Jim Miller vs Kamal Shalorus.  All three of these fights have the potential to be fight of the night candidates.

UFC Light heavyweight Championship: Maricio “Shogun” Rua vs Jon “Bones” Jones
Shogun is coming off of another knee surgery and has not fought in almost a year.  Jones, on the other hand, has been very busy in that time.

Prediction: Jon “Bones” Jones wins via TKO in the third round

Urijah Faber vs Eddie Wineland: Faber should be able to use his superior wrestling to get Wineland to the ground and dictate the pace of the fight as well as where the fight will take place.

Prediction: Faber wins a unanimous decision

Jim Miller vs Kamal Shalorus: Shalorus is a very tough fighter but Miller will be able to use his ground skills to earn a victory

Prediction: Millier wins a unanimous decision

Nate Marquardt vs Dan Miller: Miller should be given a ton of respect for stepping up to take this fight, however Marquardt is by far the more superior fighter.  This is a must win fight for Marquardt if he wants to stay in the title hunt.  Look for Marquardt to make a statement.

Predictions: Marquardt wins by first round TKO

Brendan Schaub vs Mirco Cro Cop: For years Cro Cop was the top dog in the heavyweight division.  However since he arrived in the Octagon, Cro Cop has not been the dominant fighter that he was in Pride.  Look for Schaub to be the aggressor in this fight and dictate the pace of the fight with his striking.

Prediction: Schaub wins a unanimous decision

With every fight on the main card essentially being a must win fight for everybody involved fans can expect UFC 128 to offer a night of fights that they will not soon forget.  No matter how these fights pan out, expect non stop action from beginning to end.
