Overeem signs with the UFC; Faces Lesnar in his first fight

Former Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem has found a new promotion.  He signed with the UFC and his first fight will be on Dec. 30 against former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar.  The fight will be five rounds despite not being a title fight and will serve as a No. 1 contenders fight with the winner facing the winner of Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos.

UFC 141 takes place on Friday, Dec. 30, at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.


Josh Koscheck faces Matt Hughes at UFC 135

When Diego Sanchez broke his hand and was forced out of the co-main event at UFC 135, the UFC turned to his TUF castmate Josh Koscheck to fill the role as Hughes’ opponent.  Koscheck has been out of action since last December recovering from a fractured orbital bone.

UFC 135 takes place on Sept. 24 at the Pepsi Center in Denver.

McDonald faces Ebersole; Patrick draws Attonito at UFC 140

Two of the UFC’s most promising welterweight prospects will square off at UFC 140.  Brian Ebersole, fresh off a TKO victory over Dennis Hallman at UFC 133, faces Canadian Rory McDonald, who also collected a TKO victory at UFC 133.

In another welterweight matchup, TUF alum Rich Attonito will face Canadian Claude Patrick.

UFC 140 takes place Dec. 10 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto.


UFC on Fox has three new fights

UFC on Fox got a little star power.  Lightweight contenders Benson Henderson and Clay Guida will face off in a bout that could be a No. 1 contender fight.

In addition, in bantamweight action, Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto has agreed to enter the Octagon to take on dangerous UFC newcomer Darren Uyenoyama.  Also, featherweights Ricardo Lamas and Cub Swanson are slated for the event.

UFC on Fox takes place on Nov. 12 at Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.


Escudero scratched from BAMMA 7

Former TUF winner Efrain Escudero’s BAMMA debut has hit a setback.  Escudero has been forced to withdraw from the BAMMA 7 card due to issues getting a visa.  Escudero was scheduled to face Tim Radcliffe on the card.

BAMMA 7 takes place on Sept. 10 at NIA Arena in Birmingham, England.
