Shane Carwin out until 2012 with another surgery

While training for an unannounced UFC 141 bout, heavyweight Shane Carwin again had pain in his surgically repaired back.

Following an MRI, a disc in his lower back will force the fighter to have another surgery.  The procedure is expected to keep the former interim champ out until spring or summer of 2012.

John Hathaway forced out of fight with Matt Brown

British welterweight John Hathaway is out of his UFC 138 bout with Matt Brown.

Brown will now face TUF 11 alum Seth Baczynski at UFC 139 on Nov. 19 in San Jose, Calif.

Pedro Rizzo out ProElite 2 main event

Heavyweight veteran Pedro Rizzo suffered a partial tear in a triceps’ tendon while training and is out of the ProElite main event with Tim Sylvia.

The event takes place Nov. 5 at the iWireless Center in Moline, Ill.

HDNet signs deal to broadcast ProElite 2, Kraniotakes steps in for Rizzo

During the Monday night, live broadcast of Inside MMA, it was announced that ProElite will air its second event live on HDNet.

Also announced, the promotion has replaced the injured Pedro Rizzo with German heavyweight Andreas Kraniotakes against former UFC heavyweight champ Tim Sylvia.

The event also features another heavyweight fight between former UFC champ Andrei Arlovski and more than 300-fight veteran Travis Fulton, as well as an eight-man heavyweight tournament.

Oli Thompson injured, Phil De Fries now faces Rob Broughton

Heavyweight Oli Thompson is injured and is off the Nov. 5 UFC 138 card.  Thompson was slated to face fellow Brit Phil De Fries.

De Fries will now take on yet another British heavyweight in Rob Broughton.

The event takes place from Birmingham, England and airs on Spike TV via tape delay.

MFC 32 features McKee-Cobb Title Bout, Lewis-Gouveia

Lightweights Antonio McKee and Brian Cobb will meet on Jan. 27 in the co-main event of MFC 32 “Bitter Rivals” at the Mayfield Inn Trade and Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

In the night’s other co-headlining slot will be the MFC’s first non-title five-rounder, a 205-pound clash between UFC veteran Wilson Gouveia and Dwayne Lewis.
