Vila, Dantas to complete bantamweight tourney at Bellator 59

Bellator’s season five bantamweight tournament will be completed on Nov. 26 in New Jersey, as undefeated Alexis Vila battles Brazilian Eduardo Dantas.

The winner of the fight will earn $100,000 and a shot at champion Zach Makovsky.

Bellator 59 takes place from Caesar’s Atlantic City.

Lightweights Jacob Volkmann and T.J. Grant meet at UFC 141

Grappling specialists Jacob Volkmann and T.J. Grant are slated to collide on Dec. 30 at UFC 141 from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

The Canadian Grant is coming off a submission win over Shane Roller.  Volkmann is riding a four-fight winning streak into the contest.

The event is headlined by a heavyweight battle between former UFC champ Brock Lesnar and current Strikeforce and K-1 champ Alistair Overeem.


Kenny Florian returning to lightweight, not retiring

Following a third failed attempt at UFC gold, Kenny Florian will return to the lightweight division.

After dropping to featherweight and challenging kingpin Jose Aldo, Florian’s retirement was speculated, but the Boston-based fighter announced his future plans on returning to 155 pounds.

Reagan Penn meets Evan Cutts at ProElite 2

Reagan Penn second career MMA fight will take place at ProElite 2, as he takes on undefeated Evan Cutts on Nov. 5 from the iWireless Center in Moline, Ill.

The bout airs live as part of the event’s HDNet-televised main card.

Penn is the younger brother of former UFC champ B.J. Penn.
