Viacom buys Bellator, plans to air events on Spike beginning in 2013

Instead of renters, Viacom are now owners.  That’s the way Spike TV president Kevin Kay described Viacom’s move to purchase Bellator.  The deal was revealed early today and will find the organization’s live events moving networks once again, from MTV2 to Spike TV.  The shift in networks is still more than a year away, as the UFC’s content will continue to air on Spike through the end of 2012.

Lyman Good to face Michael Costa in Bellator welterweight tournament qualifier

Bellator announced on Tuesday that its former welterweight champion, Lyman Good, will return to action on Nov. 26 at Bellator 59 against Michael Costa.  The bout will serve as a qualifier for the promotion’s season six welterweight tournament.  Good’s return comes following an injury layoff after a disappointing split decision loss to Rick Hawn in the season four welterweight tourney.

Bellator 59 takes place in Atlantic City, N.J., and will air live on MTV2.

Dave Huckaba replaces Schoonover, meets Bobby Lashley at Shark Fights 21

With Darrill Schoonover recently forced to withdraw from his scheduled fight with former WWE superstar Bobby Lashley, Dave Huckaba will step in to battle Lashley for the promotion’s heavyweight title.  Schoonover, the current champion, is expected to relinquish the title following his injury withdrawal. Huckaba sports an impressive 16-4 record and has competed once before under the Shark Fights banner, and has also fought for on EliteXC’s ShoXC series.

Shark Fights 21 is slated to take place in Lubbock, Texas, on Nov. 11 and will air via tape-delay on FUEL TV on Dec. 23.

Carson Beebe latest addition to Legacy Fighting Championships roster

The Texas-based Legacy Fighting Championships organization continued to add to its roster with the signing of Carson Beebe.  Carson, the brother of former WEC champion Chase Beebe, participated on The Ultimate Fighter 14, but was eliminated in the qualifying round by Johnny Bedford.  The promotion today announced the signing of the bantamweight prospect to a multi-fight deal.  Beebe joins Legacy featherweight and lightweight champion Daniel Pineda and Freddy Assuncao as recent acquisitions for the organization and is expected to make his promotional debut in 2012 at an HDNet-televised event.

Caros Fodor fights Justin Wilcox at “Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Masvidal”

Caros Fodor will meet Justin Wilcox in lightweight action on Strikeforce’s Dec. 17 event, Fodor today revealed to Mauro Ranallo on The MMA Show. “Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Masvidal” takes place in San Diego and airs live on Showtime.  It is not clear if the Fodor vs. Wilcox bout will be a part of the televised portion of the card.
