Featherweight title on the line at UFC 142

After recently taking a decision from Kenny Florian, UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo has a new opponent scheduled.  Chad Mendes will challenge the champion for the title at UFC 142.

While it has not been officially announced by the promotion, UFC 142 is expected to take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Jan. 14.

Only one fight will be shown on UFC on FOX

There are hopeful fans out there that would like to have enjoyed Ben Henderson take on Clay Guida on their television later this month, but today Dana White confirmed that only the title fight between Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos will be aired.  Should the fight go the distance, or if it “only goes 10 seconds,” it will be the only one shown according to the president of the promotion.

It is not something worth fretting over, because after all you can enjoy all nine undercard bouts by streaming them from either Facebook or Fox.com.

New fights added to Strikeforce Challengers 20

On Nov. 18, Strikeforce will be in Las Vegas to host a night of fights.  While the main event that evening will be a middleweight fight between Antwain Britt and Lumumba Sayers, two news fights have been added to the undercard.  Lightweights Bobby Green and Issac Vallie-Flagg will square off and light heavyweights Keith Berry and Andreas Sprang will also battle.

Bellator 57 to host middleweight tournament finale

Bellator 58 was originally scheduled to host the middleweight tournament finale between Alexander Shlemenko and Vitor Vianna, however the promotion has announced that the fight will now take place a week earlier at Bellator 57.  While there is no official word as to why the change will occur, there is speculation that it is to balance off their final cards of this season after Bellator 57 lost a non-title fight between 115-pound women’s champion Zoila Gurgel and Carina Damm.

Bellator 57 will take place at Casino Rama in Rama, Ontario, Canada, on Nov. 12.

Brian Foster signs with Bellator

Bellator Fighting Championships signed top free agent Brian Foster to add bulk to their welterweight division.  The UFC veteran was was released from the UFC after a pre-fight medical exam showed that he had a brain hemorrhage.  Despite being cleared after seeking medical help, the promotion decided not to resign him, despite going 3-2 with the promotion and ending it on a two-fight win streak.

Foster holds a record of 18-5 and has won every one of his fights by stoppage.  He has fought twice in minor promotions since his time with the UFC and has won both fights.

Tryouts for The Ultimate Fighter 15 will take place on Dec. 5

The UFC will part ways with Spike TV soon and pick up where they left off with the Fox networks.  This move includes the promotion’s reality show, The Ultimate Fighter.  Tryouts for the 15th season of the show will take place on Dec. 5 in Las Vegas.

The tryouts will be for fighters in both welterweight and lightweight divisions.
