Georges St-Pierre out of UFC 143 with torn ACL

UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre was scheduled to take on No. 1 contender Nick Diaz at UFC 143 on Super Bowl weekend, however the champion has pulled out of the fight due to blowing out his ACL.  The Canadian will be out for approximately 10 months due to the injury.

With this, the UFC announced that the new main event at UFC 143 will be Nick Diaz taking on Carlos Condit for the interim welterweight title.

UFC 143 will take place on Feb. 4 in Las Vegas

The Ultimate Fighter 15 coaches revealed

The coaches for the next season of The Ultimate Fighter will be bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz and No. 1 contender Urijah Faber.  These two fighters have fought against one another twice.  In their first fight, Faber successfully defended the WEC featherweight title and in their second fight, Cruz successfully defended the UFC bantamweight title at UFC 132.

At the press conference after defeating Brian Bowles at UFC 139, Faber asked UFC president Dana White if he could coach opposite Cruz on this season of The Ultimate Fighter.

The Ultimate Fighter 15 will debut with a live two-hour episode on Friday, March 9, on FX.

Bisping vs. Maia set for UFC on Fox 2

Coming off of a recent victory over Jason Miller, UFC middleweight Michael Bisping already has another fight scheduled.  He will take on Brazilian Demian Maia at UFC on Fox 2.  The fight will be one of three fights that will take place on the main card, which will be aired live on Fox.

UFC on Fox 2 will take place in Chicago on Jan. 28.

Title status questions answered

UFC president Dana White revealed today the current status of the light heavyweight and middleweight titles.  The winner of the upcoming fight between Chael Sonnen and Mark Munoz will become the No. 1 contender for Anderson Silva’s middleweight championship.  The winner of the fight between Michael Bisping and Demian Maia will then take on the winner of Anderson Silva versus the No. 1 contender for the title.

As far as the light heavyweight division is concerned, the winner of the Phil Davis versus Rashad Evans will become the No. 1 contender and fight the winner of this weekend’s light heavyweight title fight.

All three of these upcoming fights will take place at UFC on Fox 2 on Jan. 28.

New middleweight fight at UFC on Fox 2 announced

Today, the UFC announced another fight for UFC on Fox 2.  Chris Camozzi and Dustin Jacoby are scheduled to square off with one another in a fight to take place at middleweight.

Nijem out, Castillo in at UFC 141

The injury bug has bit The Ultimate Fighter 13 finalist Ramsey Nijem.  He was scheduled to take on Anthony Njokuani at UFC 141, but has been taken off of the card because of injury and has been replaced by Team Alpha Male fighter Danny Castillo.

UFC 141 will take place on Dec. 30 in Las Vegas.

Two new fights announced for UFC on FX 1

The first UFC card to take place on FX has two new fights.  Welterweights Charlie Brenneman and Daniel Roberts will square off and bantamweights Joseph Sandoval and Nick Denis will go head to head.

UFC on FX 1 will take place on Jan. 20 in Nashville, Tenn.

Struve vs. Herman announced

A second fight for UFC on Fuel TV 1 was announced today.  Stefan Struve and Dave Herman will square off against one another in a heavyweight clash.

UFC on Fuel 1 will take place on Feb. 15 in Omaha, Neb.

Steroid testing at UFC 139 reports all fighters clean

Drug testing for the fighters at UFC 139 came back clean two weeks ago.  Today, the California State Athletic Commission revealed that all of the steroid tests came back clean for the fighters who participated at the event.

The fighters who were tested were Dan Henderson, Mauricio Rua, Wanderlei Silva, Gleison Tibau, Shamar Bailey, Cung Le, Danny Castillo, Brian Bowles, Urijah Faber, Rafael dos Anjos, Ryan Bader and Jason Brilz.

Sarnavskiy vs. Drinaldo off of M-1 Challenge 30

The co-main event fight at this Friday’s M-1 Challenge 30 between Alexander Sarnavskiy and Francisco Drinaldo has been removed from the card due to an injury to Drinaldo.  Because of this, fellow lightweights Jose Figueroa and Artiom Damkovsky will now fight in the open slot left on the card.

M-1 Challenge 30 is set to take place this Friday in Costa Mesa, Calif.

Successful knee surgery for Junior dos Santos

UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos fought with a torn meniscus when he defeated Cain Velasquez at UFC on Fox 1.  The champ went under the knife this morning and had a successful surgery in repairing the meniscus in his left knee.  According to sources, dos Santos should be out of training for approximately three to four weeks.
