A matchup of unbeaten fighters scheduled for UFC on Fuel TV 1

A heavyweight fight between Stipe Miocic and Philip De Fries is set to take place on the inaugural UFC card on Fuel TV.  This fight will feature two undefeated fighters as Miocic holds a record of 7-0 while De Fries is 8-0(1).  Both fighters recently won in their UFC debuts by unanimous decision as Miocic defeated Joey Beltran at UFC 136 and De Fries took down Rob Broughton at UFC 138.

UFC on Fuel TV 1 will take place on Feb. 15 in Omaha, Neb.

Two new fights added to Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine

On the same evening that Keith Jardine will challenge Luke Rockhold for the Strikeforce middleweight championship, Nah-Shon Burrell will take on James Terry and Trevor Smith will battle Gian Villante.  The two fights will take place at welterweight and light heavyweight, respectively.

All four fighters are veterans of the promotion as they have 15 fights combined inside the Strikeforce cage.

“Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine” will take place on Jan. 7 in Las Vegas.  The evening’s undercard bouts will air live on Showtime Extreme, while the main card will air on Showtime.

New opponent announced for Dustin Poirier

It didn’t take long for the UFC to find an opponent for Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier.  He was scheduled to take on Erik Koch at UFC 143, however due to a training injury, Koch had to withdraw from the fight.  Stepping up in his place will be Ricardo Lamas, who is coming off of a Submission of the Night performance at UFC on Fox 1.

UFC 143 is scheduled to take place on Feb. 4 in Las Vegas.

A fifth featherweight for Bellator season-six tournament announced

Alexandre Bezerra holds a 4-0 record inside of the Bellator cage, all in non-tournament bouts.  Now, the Brazilian will finally get his chance for a title shot, as he will be a member of the season-six featherweight tournament.  “Popo” holds a professional record of 10-1 with the one loss coming at the hands of UFC fighter Charles Oliveira in 2009.

In his four victories with Bellator, three of the fights were ended by submission while the other fight was ended by TKO.

Jamie Varner scheduled to fight at next XFC card

After defeating Nate Jolly at “XFC 14: Resurrection” in October, former WEC lightweight champion Jamie Varner will return to headline “XFC 16: High Stakes.”  There is currently no opponent scheduled for Varner at the event, however.

“XFC 16: High Stakes” will take place Feb. 10 in Knoxville, Tenn.

McMann vs. Akano set for ProElite 3

Former Strikeforce fighter Hitomi Akano will take on Olympic silver medalist Sara McMann at “ProElite: Grove vs. Minowa.”  McMann won the medal in 2004 in freestyle wrestling and holds a professional MMA record of 4-0, while Akano holds a record of 18-8.

“ProElite: Grove vs. Minowa” will take place on Jan. 21 in Honolulu.
