Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez will face Pat Healy for next title defense The fight will take place Saturday, Sept. 29 at the Power Balance Pavilion in Sacramento, Calif. The main card will air live on Showtime at 10 p.m. ET/PT but delayed on the West Coast. This will be Melndez’s 10th title fight for the promotion. Healy has earned five straight wins in Strikeforce and now gets his shot for the title. Source: The MMA Corner Yushin Okami receives new opponent for UFC 150 Yushin Okami has a new opponent as Rousimar Palhares is off the card due to injury. His replacement will be Buddy Roberts, who is 2-0 in the UFC, most recently defeating Caio Magalhaes at UFC on FX: Johnson vs McCall. Roberts was originally slated to face Chris Camozzi on the card, but like Palhares, Camozzi has been forced out due to injury. Source: UFC Vitor Belfort to meet Alan Belcher at UFC 153 Belfort and Belcher are looking to stake their claim as a top UFC middleweight and potential title challenger with a win at UFC 153. They will meet in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil at the HSBC Arena on Oct. 13. Featherweight champion Jose Aldo will headline the event against Erik Koch. Source: MMAJunkie Former Bellator lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez agrees to fight Oct. 12 Caesars Windsor Hotel & Casino in Windsor, Ontario, Canada will host the fight. This will be Alvarez’s final fight to fulfill his Bellator contract. At this time, it is unknown if he will stay with the promotion or sign elsewhere. No opponent has been announced for Alvarez. Source: MMA Fighting Ben Rothwell injured, out of UFC on Fox 4 Rothwell was expected to face the undefeated Travis Browne on Aug. 4 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. His replacement for Browne will be Devin Cole, whose last three fights were in Strikeforce. The UFC on Fox 4 main card airs 8 p.m. ET.
