Former Jackson’s MMA Product Willie Parks Wanted For Alleged Beating of Girlfriend The MMA Corner Staff August 24, 2012 News It’s a sad outcome to the story of Willie “Slick” Parks. The story, relayed in a 2011 MMA Junkie feature, tells of Parks’ birth in a mental care center to a mother charged with murdering her own daughter. Now, Parks is on the run with a similarly dark cloud over his head. Parks, a Strikeforce veteran with a professional record of 5-2, is currently being sought by United States Marshals under a warrant filed in the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court, according to local Albuquerque ABC affiliate KOAT’s website. According to the KOAT report, Parks is wanted on charges stemming from battering his girlfriend. According to the warrant, Parks’ girlfriend sustained a concussion and a broken nose as a result of the altercation with Parks. According to KOAT, the police report also said that the victim’s prenatal test indicates that she will suffer a miscarriage as a result of her injuries. Parks reportedly prevented the victim from seeking treatment for her injuries for the span of a week while he attempted to care for her. On Aug. 2, the victim went to the hospital, and a warrant for Parks’ arrest was issued six days later. Parks is charged with aggravated battery on a household member, according to the KOAT report. KOAT states that police received a tip that Parks may be at a ranch in Edgewood, which is just outside of Albuquerque, N.M., on the east side of the Sandia Mountains. Parks launched his MMA career as a prospect with a four-fight undefeated mark, leading to a fight with The Ultimate Fighter alum Jamie Yager. The former collegiate wrestler and Olympic hopeful lost via submission against Yager, but earned a spot on the Strikeforce Challengers 20 card. There, he fought Andreas Spang, losing via TKO. Parks’ most recent fight took place in March at Worldwide MMA in El Paso, Texas, where he defeated Jermaine Facey. While it has been a tumultuous week for Jackson’s MMA, following Jon Jones’ refusal to fight at UFC 151, the camp revealed that it severed ties with Parks two months ago. Parks faces aggravated assault charges and was ordered held on $50,000 cash bail after he was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals. Photo: Willie Parks (L) (Daniel Archuleta/Sherdog) Marcia Allen Willie Parks has traded on his athletic ability, smooth talking lies, and looks for a long time, but I do believe that justice finally may catch him. I realize that he is a master manipulator and that he no doubt has some die-hard supporters, friends, and fans, but he is dangerous to women, lovely women who don’t recognize him for the abuser he is until they have become one of his string of victims. My heart goes out to his latest victim, and I am so proud of her for reporting the abuse to law enforcement. My sincere best wishes to the U. S. Marshals and New Mexico police everywhere. May Willie Parks soon be yours. Women and children everywhere will be safer when he is behind bars. He has seen a courtroom before; may he see one again.
