Pat Barry vs. Shane Del Rosario Set for The Ultimate Finale 16 Two exciting heavyweight strikers will meet each other on The Ultimate Finale 16. Barry is just 1-3 in his past four fights while Del Rosario lost his UFC debut earlier this year to Stipe Miocic. Previously Del Rosario had gone 3-0 in Strikeforce. The TUF finale will also feature a heavyweight clash between Shane Carwin and Roy Nelson. The event is set to take place on Dec. 15 from The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Source: MMA Junkie Anthony Pettis Hit With Staph Infection Lightweight title contender Anthony Pettis will be sitting on the sidelines for some time after being admitted to a hospital with a staph infection. Pettis’ management confirmed that the former WEC champion was admitted into a hospital on Monday and diagnosed with the infection on his elbow. Pettis lost in his UFC debut but reinserted himself into the UFC title picture with two straight victories in the Octagon. “Showtime” was hopeful he’d be released today. Source: Sherdog Dustin Poirier Switches Camps Dustin Poirier is coming off a fourth-round submission loss to Chan-Sung Jung earlier this year. The fight is considered to be among the top of anyone’s “Fight of the Year” voting list for 2012. Even so, Poirier is leaving his home camp at Tim Credeur’s Gladiators Academy and will now be training full time at American Top Team. Poirier noted that it was a mutual parting with Credeur and the two Louisiana natives are still on good terms. Source: MMA Fighting Due to Injuries Drysdale vs. Reed Named Legacy 15 Main Event The scheduled middleweight title bout between William “Bubba” Bush and Noel Ligon has been scrapped from the Legacy 15 card. The reason is due to a training injury sustained by Lion. Bush will now face Jon Kirk in a non-title match up. A fight featuring Robert Drysdale and Chris Reed has been bumped up to main event status. Legacy 15 is scheduled to take place on Nov. 16 from the Arena Theater in Houston. Source: MMA Junkie XFC Night of Champions II: Co-Main Event Announced XFC announced the co-main event for their Night of Champions II card today. Corey “The Real Deal” Hill will face Ryan “The Tank Engine” Thomas. Hill has won two straight bouts after dropping a unanimous decision to former WEC champion Rob McCullough in 2010. Thomas, fighting out of American Top Team, has also won two straight and sports a professional record of 14-7. XFC Night of Champions II features a lightweight title bout as the main event and will also feature open tryouts for fighters. The event is set to take place on Dec. 7 from Nashville.
