Dream 18 to take place on New Year’s Eve It was announced that the Japanese MMA promotion Dream was officially dead earlier this year. Despite this, the promotion still has a heartbeat as Glory Sports International has announced that they will revive the promotion for an event on New Year’s Eve. “DREAM 18 – Special NYE 2012″ will be hosted by GSI at the Saitama Super Arena on Dec. 31 The event will feature both MMA and kickboxing fights, the same way that the New Year’s Eve event traditionally has. There will be 10 MMA fights and three kickboxing fights. While there are officially no opponents announced, it is expected that featherweights Hiroyuki Takaya and Tatsuya Kawajiri, along with lightweight Satoru Kitaoka will appear on the card. SOURCE: The MMA Corner Bellator 78 weigh-in results The season seven welterweight tournament will officially continue tomorrow night as the four remaining fighters made weight earlier today. In the main event, Lyman Good will square off against Michail Tsarev and the co-main event will be Andrey Koreshkov against Marius Zaromskis. The winner of each fight will square off with one another later in the season, with the winner receiving an automatic shot at the welterweight title in the future. Every other fighter on the card also made weight, including Bellator’s women’s 115-pound champion, Zoila Gurgel. The “Warrior Princess” will move up a weight class and fight at women’s flyweight on the card as she battles against Casey Noland tomorrow night. Henle, an Ultimate Fighter alumni, will bring his undefeated record into the ring against Mutapcic, who boasts an impressive 11-2 record. Unfortunately, two fighters on the card missed weight. Jared McComb missed the middleweight limit of 186-pounds, while Cody Krahn missed the 170-pound welterweight limit. Both fighters will forfeit 20% of their purse to their opponent as a result. The promotion searched for a replacement to fight Yvel’s opponent, Marcio Cruz, and was able to install Joe Yager into the fight. That fight has been taken from the main event and moved down the main card. With that, it was decided that the fight between Efrain Escudero and Tyson Griffin would be moved into the evening’s main event.
