Rousimar Palhares and Joey Beltran suspended after positive tests at UFC on FX 6 Without an athletic commission to oversee UFC on FX 6 in Australia, the UFC took testing fighters into their own hands and caught two positive tests following UFC on FX 6. The UFC announced on Thursday that Rousimar Palhares had been suspended for elevated levels of testosterone-to-epitestosterone while Joey Beltran tested positive for nandrolone, a banned steroid. Both fighters have been suspended for nine months due to the positive tests. Palhares was knocked out in the first round by Hector Lombard at UFC on FX 6 which took place in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. Palhares’ fight will be not be overturned to a no contest due to him losing the fight. Beltran on the other hand beat Igor Pokrajac by unanimous decision and that win will be overturned to a no contest. Source: MMA Junkie Bellator lightweight tournament returns on January 31 for season eight With Michael Chandler and Rick Hawn set to square off next week for the lightweight title, Bellator will reintroduce the lightweight tournament during season eight on January 31. The tournament will feature previous lightweight tournament participants like Lloyd Woodard, Patricky Freire, Ricardo Tirloni, Alexander Sarnavskiy, Thiago Michel and welterweight tournament participant, David Rickels. The tournament will also bring in the Bellator debut of undefeated lightweight prospect, Will Brooks who is coming off of a TKO victory over Satoro Kitaoka at Dream 18. Also fighting for the second time will be Guillaume DeLorenzi who takes on Patricky Freire. The tournament starts at The Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort in Mount Pleasant, Michigan on January 31. The main card will air on Spike TV and tickets for the event are already on sale. The event is headlined by a heavyweight clash between Blackzilian, Tyrone Spong and superstar Remy Bonjasky. The two heavy-hitting heavyweights will meet in a three round fight composed of three minute rounds. Bonjasky is coming off of a loss to Jamal Ben Saddik in the quarterfinals of the Heavyweight Grand Slam Tournament on New Year’s Eve. Bonjasky won his first round match earlier that night by decision over Filip Verlinden. Spong last fought in MMA at World Series of Fighting 1 in a win over Travis Bartlett with a first round knockout victory.
