UFC plans for Belfort vs. Rockhold in Brazil A middleweight fight between recent UFC light heavyweight title challenger Vitor Belfort and former Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold is in the works. The fight is expected for a to-be-announced event in Brazil and could likely serve as a No.1 contender match. Source: Sherdog UFC 156 gate and drug test results The Feb. 2, UFC 156 event did an official gate of $2,437,150 with an attendance of 10, 275 (7,136 sold, 3,139 comped) according to Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Keith Kizer. Additionally, Kizer confirmed that all 22 participants passed their drug tests. A report from MMA Junkie explained that heavyweight Alistair Overeem was also administered a post-fight blood test, but the results will not be available for another week. UFC 156 took place Feb. 2 from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. Source: Sherdog Injury forces Maguire out of Cage Warriors 52 Cage Warriors has revealed that a lightweight fight between Tommy Maguire and Merv Mullholland has been scratched from the Cage Warrors 52 card due to a training injury received by Maguire. A replacement opponent is currently being sought. Cage Warriors 52 is set for Saturday, March 9 from London’s, HMV Forum. The card will be headlined by a welterweight title match between champion, Gael Grimaud, and challenger, Cathal Pendred. Source: The MMA Corner World Series of Fighting brings Arlovski/Johnson to Atlantic City World Series of Fighting officially announced plans today to hold a previously announced headline bout for their second event between Andrei “The Pitbull” Arlovski (19-9) versus Anthony “Rumble” Johnson (15-3) in Atlantic City, N.J. WSOF 2 is set for March 23 from the Ovation Hall at Revel and the five-bout main card will be broadcast on NBC Sports Network. Johnson, a former welterweight who has recently competed at light heavyweight, will be making his heavyweight debut against Arlovski. The co-main event will see a bantamweight match between Tyson Nam (12-4) and Marlon Moraes (9-4).
