On Thursday, Feb. 14, Bellator made its first appearance in the state of North Carolina, landing at Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, N.C. The event, the promotion’s 89th, featured a bantamweight title bout between champion Eduardo Dantas and teammate Marcos Galvao, as well as the beginning of the Season 8 middleweight tournament.

Dantas and Galvao put their friendship aside to battle for Bellator gold. Dantas also looked to rebound from a devastating knockout loss to Tyson Nam in his home country of Brazil.

The middleweight tournament kicked off with with eight fighters looking for a $100,000 prize and a shot at the 185-pound championship which was captured last week by Russian Alexander Shlemenko.

Main card action was shown on Spike beginning at 10 p.m. ET, with the night’s undercard streaming live on Spike.com starting at 8 p.m. ET.
