The UFC’s heavyweight division had added a familiar face as Australian Soa Palelei has been signed to a four-fight contract to compete inside the Octagon once again.

The MMA Corner confirmed the news with the fighter’s management, Paradigm Sports Management.

The 35-year-old carries a record of 18 wins against just three losses. One of those losses came against Eddie Sanchez at UFC 79, in his lone appearance with the promotion.

Since then, “The Hulk” has reeled off wins in 10 of his last 11 appearances, falling only to Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix champion Daniel Cormier in late 2010.

In his current eight-fight winning streak, Palelei has finished all of his opponents by way of technical knockout, including UFC veteran Sean McCorkle in his most recent bout at Australian Fighting Championship 4 in December. All 18 of his career wins have come by stoppage, with 14 coming via strikes.

On his return to the sport’s largest promotion, the fighter said, “I’m thankful to Dana White and Joe Silva for giving me this opportunity to come back to the UFC to showcase my skills. With determination, hard work and a great team, I’m happy to say that today I have signed with the UFC. I look forward to competing in the best organization in the world.”

An opponent and debut date have yet to be finalized at this time, but it is expected that Palelei will make a return trip to the Octagon some time in June or July. Check back with The MMA Corner for more information once a bout is finalized.
