On Friday, April 19, Xtreme Fighting Championships visited the Kentucky International Convention Center for XFC 23: ‘Louisville Slugfest.’ It was the promotion’s first visit to the Bluegrass State.

The event, which aired live on AXS TV, featured UFC veteran Shamar Bailey against Bellator veteran Luis Santos. Bailey, who was jettisoned from the UFC in late 2011, closed 2012 with back-to-back wins to move his record to 15-8. Meanwhile, the well-traveled Santos entered the contest in search of his 55th career win against just nine defeats. The Brazilian had dropped two straight fights under the Bellator banner to Ben Saunders and Ryan Ford entering the event.

Also on the main card, featherweight Zach Underwood looked for his third straight victory as he battled RFA veteran Deivison Ribeiro, strawweight Stephanie Eggink clashed with Brianna Van Buren, and TUF 14 combatant B.J. Ferguson faced Charles Stanford. Eggink was originally expected to face Angela Magana for the promotion’s inaugural 115-pound title, but Magana was forced out of the fight due to injury.

Three additional bouts filled out the televised main card, while four bouts made up the untelevised portion of the event. The main card kicked off at 9 p.m. ET on AXS TV.
