The main card will feature the first round of the promotions season nine featherweight tournament, with Patricio Freire squaring off with UFC veteran Diego Nunes. While the featherweights will clearly be on display at the event, the lone main card fight between two non-featherweights features two former UFC light heavyweights, as Vladimir Matyushenko will face Houston Alexander. Unfortunately, four fighters missed weight, two of them being fighters in the tournament. The fighters were given two hours to shed the additional weight. In the main event, the lightweight championship will be on the line as Scott Holtzman defends his strap against Roger Carroll. The other championship that will be on the line will be the women’s flyweight title, a weight class of which the promotion has never had a champion. Cortney Casey will take on Pearl Gonzalez for the honor of being the first ever women’s 125-pound champion. Source: The MMA Corner ‘Minowaman‘ schedules 100th fight Japanese fighter Ikuhisa Minowa has scheduled his 100th professional MMA fight with South Korean promotion ROAD FC. While currently “Minowaman” does not have an opponent scheduled the event, ROAD FC 013 will take place on Oct. 12 in Gumi, South Korea. The 37-year-old currently holds a record of 56-35-8.
