Jones to meet Teixeira Super Bowl weekend

Traditionally, the UFC puts on one of its biggest fight cards during the weekend of the National Football League’s Super Bowl.  It has been announced that light heavyweight champion Jon Jones will defend his title against No. 1 contender Glover Teixeira at the event.

There were questions as to whether or not Jones would compete against Alexander Gustafsson due to how close their championship fight was earlier this month at UFC 165.

While the event does not technically have a name, it will take place at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.   With the Super Bowl taking place on Feb. 2, the UFC event will happen a day earlier, on Feb. 1.
