Shane del Rosario continues to ‘cling to life;’ family ‘still hoping’ for a miracle

Shane del Rosario continues to stay strong under life support at a Newport Beach, Calif. hospital.

Del Rosario suffered cardiac arrest in his home Tuesday morning, and the family continues to have hope that a miracle will occur.

“Shane continues to cling to life at Hoag hospital in Newport Beach, Calif.,” manager Jason House told MMAFighting.com via text message.” After arriving at the emergency room in full cardiac arrest on Tuesday morning he was resuscitated to stable rhythm and blood pressure, but has not regained consciousness.”

House also said that doctors believe the cause of the heart attack could be due to a rare condition called Long QT Syndrome, which is a genetic anomaly that can cause a sudden and life threatening heart rhythm abnormality, and may result in sudden death.

On Thursday night, doctors modulated del Rosario’s body temperature by using the Arctic Sun Temperature Management System to cool down the hypothermia state of the body, but del Rosario did not respond to the treatment. House stated Friday afternoon that he did not know if the 72 hours to respond to it that doctors gave him have came to an end.
