Alves to return in April

In April at UFC on Fox 11, Thiago Alves is scheduled to officially make his return to the Octagon.  He has been on the sidelines since a loss to Martin Kampmann back in 2012, and has verbally agreed to a match against Seth Baczynski.

“Pitbull” has gone 19-9 in his career, but has gone 2-4 in his last six bouts.

Samman to meet Magalhaes in Florida

When the UFC returns to Florida for UFC on Fox 11, there will be a middleweight matchup between Josh Samman and Caio Magalhaes on the dockett.

Samman is a veteran of The Ultimate Fighter and has won his only official UFC fight.  Magalhaes started his UFC career with a loss, but has rebounded nicely as of late, winning his last two.

UFC on Fox 11 takes place on April 19 in Orlando.

Askren to fight for ONE FC title in debut fight

Former Bellator welterweight champion will compete for the ONE FC welterweight title in his debut fight with the promotion.  His opponent will be the winner of the fight between Brock Larson and Nobutatsu Suzuki at ONE FC 14 on March 14.

Opponent found for Tuhugov at UFC Fight Night 36

Yesterday, and injury to Thiago Tavares left Zubair Tuhugov without an opponent for next weekends UFC Fight Night 36 event.  The UFC acted quickly, and Douglas de Andrade will step in on short notice to take the fight.

While it will be his Octagon debut, his professional record at this point of his career is 22-0 and he has 19 finishes under his belt.

UFC Fight Night 36 takes place on Feb. 15 from Jaragua do Sul, Santa Catarina, Brazil.

Canadian welterweight champion to be named in WSOF

While Steve Carl holds the WSOF world welterweight championship, a bout between Ryan Ford and Joel Powell has been set for Feb. 21.  The winner of that fight will be named the Canadian welterweight champion.  The event will feature top Canadian prospects and fighters from the WSOF organization.

The card has been announced, and is as follows:
