On Friday, April 4, Bellator MMA hosted its 115th event from the Reno Events Center in Reno, Nev.

In the night’s main event, Bellator heavyweight champion Vitaly Minakov put his title on the line against season nine tournament winner and UFC veteran Cheick Kongo. The Russian Minkov captured Bellator gold in his last bout, stopping countryman Alexander Volkov in the first round by strikes.  The victory moved Minakov’s record to 13-0 with eight wins via strikes. Kongo, meanwhile, earned his title shot by defeating Mark Godbeer and Peter Graham in his first two Bellator appearances.

Also on the card, the promotion was expected to host one half of the semifinal ladder in both the season 10 welterweight and middleweight tournaments. In the 170-pound division, former title challenger Andrey Koreshkov was slated to face off with Sam Oropeza, but Koreshkov was forced out because of the flu. UFC veteran Dan Cramer was expected to clash with Jeremy Kimball in the 185-pound bracket, but Kimball missed weight and the fight was pulled from the card.

The night’s preliminary card kicked off at 7 p.m. ET on Spike.com. The main card aired live on Spike TV beginning at 9 p.m. ET.
