ONE Fighting Championship has revealed plans for its 16th event, dubbed “Honor & Glory.” The event will take place on Friday, May 30 from Singapore.

Headlining the event will be a welterweight clash between unbeaten Ben Askren and Azerbaijan native Bakhtiyar Abbasov. Both fighters will be making their promotional debuts.

Askren, a two-time NCAA national champion wrestler, carries an unblemished 12-0 record into his promotional debut. The 29-year-old is a nine-time Bellator veteran who walked away as champion. Askren captured gold at Bellator 33 against Lyman Good and went on to defend his belt on four occasions. After being criticized for his grappling-heavy style, “Funky” stopped both Andrey Koreshkov and Karl Amoussou via strikes in his two appearances in 2013. He’ll look to ride that momentum toward the ONE FC belt currently held by Nobutatsu Suzuki.

Abbasov, meanwhile, rides a nine-fight winning streak into the clash with Askren. The 28-year-old has amassed 11 wins in his career, with five coming by way of strikes and five via submission. He has stopped his last two opponents by first-round armbar under the Grand European Fighting Championship banner.

Also announced for the event was a lightweight clash between UFC and Strikeforce veteran Caros Fodor and Shooto veteran Willy Ni, as well as a light heavyweight battle between American Jake Butler and New Zealand’s Pane Haraki.

More bouts for the event are expected to be announced in the coming weeks. ONE FC “Honor & Glory” will stream live in the United States via online pay-per-view for $9.99.
