White announces two UFC title rematches The UFC finally had made everything official for two major world title bouts. First, UFC president Dana White declared that, after an early front-runner for “Upset of The Year” in which T.J. Dillashaw systematically decimated Renan Barao to become UFC bantamweight champion, the champion and the former champion will battle once again in an immediate rematch when the UFC hits the the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, Calif. on Aug. 30. Also, after much debate over where UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson would have their Sept. 27 rematch, White announced that the bout would take place in Las Vegas, though the UFC President could not confirm a venue. Source: UFC Dempsey replaces Lawlor, meets Latifi at UFC Fight Night 46 Newcomer Chris Dempsey has been selected to fill in for Tom Lawlor, meaning that the newcomer will see action against Ilir Latifi at UFC Fight Night 46. Dempsey rides an eight-fight winning streak coming into this matchup. Meanwhile, Latifi comes off of a win over Cyrille Diabate in what would be Diabate’s farewell fight. Arlovski took home a controversial split-decision win over Brendan Schaub. Silva has not fought since drawing with Mark Hunt in Brisbane.
