Sid Bice vs. Eric Shelton Set to Kick Off RFA 16 on July 25 The MMA Corner Staff July 7, 2014 News The televised card for Resurrection Fighting Alliance’s 16th event on July 25 has undergone another change. Just days after bantamweight Lauren Barefoot pulled out with a neck injury and Joe Murphy was forced out of the night’s co-main event against Jarred Mercado, flyweight Carlos Huerta has been replaced in the night’s first televised bout by unbeaten Eric Shelton. Shelton, who competed at RFA 5 as an amateur, has put together three straight wins as professional. All three wins have come inside the first round. Shelton trains alongside co-main event fighter Jake Klemme at Miletich Fighting Systems in Iowa. Across the cage from Shelton will local fighter Sid Bice, who also carries an unblemished 3-0 record. Bice trains out of Factory X Muay Thai/MMA in Littleton, Colo. RFA 16 takes place from the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colo. It will be headlined by a battle of unbeaten heavyweights as Colorado’s own Josh Copeland squares off with Utah’s Jan Jorgensen. The pair will be fighting for the promotion’s vacant heavyweight title. Also on the main card, former Northwestern wrestler Jarred Mercado takes on Jake Klemme in a bantamweight No. 1 contender bout, welterweights Josh Cavan and Chris Heatherly lock horns, bantamweight Zac Chavez meets Boston Salmon, and Maureen Riordon clashes with Marion Reneau in a women’s bantamweight affair. Additional bouts for the event are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks. The RFA 16 main card will air live on AXS TV on Friday, July 25 beginning at 10 p.m. ET.
