One of the most promising up-and-coming light heavyweights in Bellator MMA, Tom DeBlass is set to face his highest profile opponent yet in the main card opposite Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal at Bellator 123, which is scheduled to take place Sept. 5. The fight is part of the main card, which airs live on Spike TV. DeBlass has never been finished in 10 professional bouts, and he was quick to recover in Bellator MMA after suffering two decision losses in the UFC.

Known for his heavy hands in the cage, DeBlass is also a world-class grappler, having competed in the highest levels of the sport for IBJJF and Abu Dhabi Combat Club. He won the 2009 ADCC North American trials to earn a spot in the ADCC World Championships. He also won gold at the 2013 Pan-Am Championships. His busy MMA schedule may prevent him from taking part in the trials for the 2015 ADCC World Championships, but he’s hoping his accomplishments impress ADCC officials enough to earn him an invitation.

Most recently, DeBlass took part in an ADCC America Federation superfight opposite MMA legend Renato “Babalu” Sobral. DeBlass secured victory via points with a last-minute takedown. The event took place at the World MMA Expo in New York City.

The MMA Corner’s Justin Fuller caught up with DeBlass at the ADCC America Federation New York Nationals Tournament as part of the World MMA Expo in New York City.
