On Saturday, November 1st Cage Warriors held Cage Warriors 73: Ray vs. Warburton from the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle, England.

Unlike most promotions that feature preliminary action and a main card, Cage Warriors provides something different. This Saturday they will hold two main cards each headlined by a different title bout. The first main card will be headlined by a bout for the vacant featherweight title between Alex Enlund and Nad Narimani. Enlund is riding a three fight winning streak and all ten of the featherweight’s ten victories have come by submission. Narimani has only lost once in eight bouts and has four victories by submission.

In the final headliner of the night lightweight champion Stevie Ray will defend his lightweight title against Curt Warburton. This will be the third time that these two fighters have met. Warburton won a decision back in March of 2013 and Ray got revenge when he defeated Warburton via a controversial split decision back in June for the vacant title. The winner of this rubber match will truly be the undisputed Cage Warriors lightweight champion.

The first main card kicks off at 2 p.m. ET and the second main card goes on after at 5 p.m. the action will be streamed live on MMAJunkie.com

Title Fight Summaries

The first main event of the evening saw featherweights Enlund meet Narimani for the vacant CWFC 145-pounds title. Narimani took the center of the cage earlier but Enlund proved to be the aggressor as he threw a series of crisp combinations with his back against the cage. Early in the second round both men struggled to put together much offense as they continued to dodge each others blows. Eventually Enlund brought the fight to the canvas and quickly took the back of Narimani but could not secure the rear naked before the round ended. Narimani came out like a man possessed early in the third round as he continued to pick apart his opponent with quick jabs and body shots. But Enlund would once against secure the takedown, lock on a body triangle and rain blows down onto his opponent’s skull in hopes of pummeling him into submission. For a minute it looked like Narimani was out but the sound of bell saved him from further damage. Narimani, knowing his opponent would undoubtably look for the takedown, came out to the fourth round with a rather a defense stance. This seemed to work as he immediately stuffed a takedown from a visibly exhausted Enlund. As the fifth and final round kicked off both men exchanged shots in the center of the cage but it was Narimani who followed up with a barrage of strikes his opponent’s skull. A reeling Enlund attempted to avoid more damage by pulling guard with 10 seconds left in the fight as the boos echoed from the crowd. Both men raised their hand in triumph but the judges award the fight and the belt to Enlund by unanimous decision. Alex Enlund def. Nad Narimani by unanimous decision (48-47, 48-47, 48-47) – for CWFC featherweight championship

After four and a half hours of fighting the main event kicked off as Ray looked to defend his CWFC lightweight title against Curt Warburton in their highly anticipated rubber match. No touch of the gloves from either man as Warburton immediately looked to press the action against the cage. Ray looked to pick up the face near the end of the opening frame with a huge takedown in the center of the cage. In a rather bizarre scene both men looked to lock on simultaneous heel hooks, neither of which were successful. Ray managed to drop his opponent early in the second from but Warburton immediately looked to lock on the leg lock. After defending the submission, Ray secures full mount before transition to the back and locking on a very deep rear naked choke, forcing Warburton to tap. Ray hops the fence and runs into the crowd to celebrate his successful title defense. Stevie Ray def. Curt Warburton by submission (rear naked choke). Round 2, 2:00 – for CWFC lightweight title
