On Friday, December 5th, Invicta FC held Invicta FC 10: Waterson vs. Tiburcio from the Arena Theater in Houston, Texas. This is the second time in just three events that the promotion has aired on UFC Fight Pass.

In the night’s main event, Michelle Waterson makes the second defense of her atomweight title against Herica Tiburcio. With many of Invicta’s best fighters migrating over to the UFC, Waterson has become the poster woman for the promotion. Waterson had won six fights in a row including two stoppage victories in her two title fights.

Tiburcio was making her Invicta debut. The Brazilian had won three straight fights and had six victories by submission.

In the night’s co-main event, Invicta veteran Tonya Evinger faced newcomer Cindy Dandois. Evinger had two victories in as many bouts in Invicta including a submission victory over Ediane Gomes.

Dandois only has six fights on her record, but holds some big victories in her career. In her professional debut, she defeated Marloes Coenen and then muay-thai standout, Jorina Baars, in her last fight.

The rest of the card featured well known female fighters like Roxanne Modafferi, Jennifer Maia, and Peggy Morgan. The entire eight fight card aired on UFC Fight Pass.

Main Card Summary

Main Event: Michelle Waterson vs. Herica Tiburcio- for atomweight title

Round 1: The round begins with the both fighters exchanging and finding their range. Tiburicio charges Waterson, but can’t get to Waterson.  Tiburcio lands the first take down. Waterson is fighting for an armbar,but she finds her way out. They get back to their feet and Tiburcio maintains dominant position against the cage. Waterson gets out and they return to the center of the cage briefly, before Waterson lands a take down and goes straight to mount. Tiburcio sweeps and finds herself in the guard of Waterson who continues to fight for an armbar.

Round 2: The fighters exchange and Tiburcio takes Waterson back to the cage.  She is searching for a take down, but Waterson is defending well. . Waterson rolls to the ground and gets into half guard. Waterson delivers some hammerfists while Tiburcio attempts a toe hold and they make their way back up to their feet. Tiburcio drops Waterson with a knee to the body and gets side control. She delivers some nasty elbows and transitions into half guard while attempting a kimura.  Waterson gets out of a very bad position and gets into Tiburcio’s closed guard. Tiburcio locks up an arm bar, but Waterson is saved by the bell.

Round 3: Waterson attempts a head kick, but Tiburcio capitalizes with a take down. They scramble on the ground, but Tiburcio maintains dominant position and drops in for a guillotine finishing the fight. Herica Tiburcio def. Michell Waterson by Submission (guillotine), Round 3, 1:05.

Co-Main Event: Cindy Dandois vs. Tonya Evinger

Round 1: The round begins with Dandois as the aggressor. Evinger quickly turn the tide on the feet, but Dandois obtains the first take down. Evinger reverses and her hands find a home while in half guard.  Evinger advances to side control and gets a crucifix and land some good ground and pound. Dandois scrambles, but Evinger takes her back. Evinger gets full mount and continues to deliver ground and pound. Dandois attempts a heel hook and Evinger finds her way back into half guard.

Round 2: Dandois comes forward again and shoots in for a double leg but, Evinger sprawls and takes her down. Evinger gets to her back, and Dandois attempts to go out the back door. On her way out Evinger secures an arm bar. Tonya Evinger def. Cindy Dandois by Submission, Round 2, 1:23.
