Most weeks the MMA masses basically take their weeks as Saturday through Saturday. This past week we had a calendar change. With the UFC holding an event on Sunday night, our fight week got extended an extra day, and with all of the news and great fights we witnessed over the past weekend, it is probably a good thing that we got to spread everything out over the holiday weekend.

This week we had the return of both Bellator and World Series of Fighting, the aforementioned huge UFC card on Sunday night, two huge full fight card announcements, and oh yeah, there is a certain bare knuckle brawler making his return to MMA.

UFC Fight Night 59

UFC News

What a week it was. All three major promotions held big events, and all three on separate nights to give our remotes a rest. Bellator kicked off the action early Friday morning by signing Kimbo Slice and ended that night with an absolutely stellar title fight between Patricio Freire and Daniel Straus. World Series of Fighting got in on the action on Saturday night with Jake Shields scoring his second submission finish in only two fights with the promotion to earn a shot at Rousimar Palhares. The UFC had huge news even before the big card on Sunday night.

The UFC announced that TJ Dillashaw and Renan Barao will headline UFC 186 with stellar support from stars like Rory MacDonald, Michael Bisping, and a returning Rampage Jackson. Then as the fight card was going on on Sunday night we got word that Chad Mendes and Ricardo Lamas will headline a Saturday afternoon matinee in April. The fight card itself didn’t disappoint. Donald Cerrone extended his winning streak to seven and Conor McGregor shined brightly under the biggest spotlight of his career. Take it all in MMA fans, we’ve got a big one in Sweden in only five days.
