Joe Murphy (Dave Mandel/Sherdog)hVlyIP4Zo1MThe MMA Corner Fight of the Week: Joe Murphy vs. Terrion Ware RJ Gardner February 4, 2015 Events, Spotlight, Video Unlike other professional sports, there is no offseason in MMA. Week in and week out, fight cards all over the world are taking place. Some weeks there will be major fight cards filled with big name fighters, others not so much, but there are fights taking place every week. Regardless of whether the fighters are household names or not, The MMA Corner will preview the best fight taking place during the week. This week’s Fight of the Week is the bantamweight showdown between Joe Murphy and Terrion Ware. On Friday, January 6th at RFA 23 in Costa Mesa, CA, top bantamweight prospects Murphy and Ware will battle it out in hopes of catching the eye of UFC matchmaker Joe Silva. The RFA has established itself as the premier developmental promotion in MMA, and they continue to send fighters to the UFC on a regular basis. Winning a bout in the RFA as a headliner is a surefire way to get noticed and both Murphy and Ware are hungry for the opportunity. A well-rounded veteran of the regional circuit, Ware has proven that he can win fights on the feet and on the ground and he has the cardio to go the distance as well. While he has shown an ability to finish on the ground throughout his career, he has also been susceptible to being caught, as two of his three career losses have come by way of submission. Murphy, on the other hand, is a grappling wizard and in his most recent bout at RFA 21 he showed everyone that he has power in his hands, picking up at TKO victory over Bruno Frazatto. Murphy is one of the brightest prospects in the bantamweight division and this bout is going to be huge in determining just where he is in his development.
